Stephen J. Wiard is an attorney in JML Law’s Employment Law Department.
Stephen joined JML Law in 2014 after previously working as a civil rights attorney at a nationally renowned law firm. Stephen first developed his passion for employee rights as a college student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. While attending UCSC, Stephen worked as a campus organizer and joined local labor activists in calling for higher wages and better working conditions for the university’s food service workers. Stephen graduated with honors from UCSC and went on to attend Chapman University School of Law, where he served on the school’s Honor Council and Career Services Advisory Board.
Since joining JML Law, Stephen has successfully recovered millions of dollars for his clients. Stephen has been recognized for his efforts by being named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2017, an honor available to only 2.5% of eligible attorneys in California.
Stephen is also actively involved in the legal community. He is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA), an organization dedicated to protecting and expanding the rights of California workers. Stephen serves on CELA’s legislative committee, frequently advising on, and advocating for, proposed legislation affecting California workers. Stephen also gives back to his community by volunteering with the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities (LATLC), an organization of trial lawyers who donate their time and money to partner charities throughout Southern California.
When he’s not working, Stephen enjoys traveling and attending Los Angeles Rams and Dodgers games with his beautiful wife, Megan. Stephen also participates in trivia competitions, plays on JML Law’s softball team, and trains in the martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
